I still remember the time when thirteen-year-old me saw that the title of the next Avatar: The Last Airbender episode was called ‘The Puppetmaster’ and I was like, “Aw, they’re going to use their bending to put on a little play.” And it turned out to be a straight-up horror episode filled with torture and possession. And then the next week, thirteen-year-old me saw that the episode was entitled ‘Nightmares and Daydreams’ and I was still shaking from the episode the week before and I was like, “Oh God! What’s this one going to be about!?” and it turned out to be an episode where Aang was hallucinating that Appa and Momo were fighting as sheep cheered on and Guru Pathik sang a song about chakras. And I would like to personally take the time to thank Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino for teaching thirteen-year-old me to never trust anything!
